Small Business Operations Consulting

Your business isn't broken. Your systems haven’t caught up.

Most small business owners aren’t struggling because they lack work ethic. They’re exhausted because they built a business that runs on effort instead of structure.

Every decision falls on you. Every process lives in your head. Every day feels like starting from scratch.

You don’t need to work harder. You need systems that work without you pushing every lever.

You started this business because you’re great at what you do. But being great at your craft doesn’t mean the business runs smoothly.

Common friction points small business owners face:

  • You’re doing everything yourself and can’t step away without things stalling

  • Production processes are inconsistent - quality and speed depend on who’s working

  • You know there are inefficiencies but can’t pinpoint where time and money are leaking

  • Scaling feels impossible because the current system barely handles today’s demand

  • Material costs, waste, and rework eat into margins you can’t afford to lose

  • There are no documented processes, everything depends on tribal knowledge

If this sounds familiar, the issue isn’t effort. It’s that the business has outgrown its operating system.

The Steady State Method brings 20 years of industrial engineering and continuous improvement into your small business.

I apply the same tools used in large-scale manufacturing (Lean, Six-Sigma, Kaizen, PDCA) scaled down and made practical for small operations. No corporate jargon. No 200-page reports. Just clear, actionable improvements that reduce cost, increase efficiency, and free you from being the bottleneck.

What I help with:

  • Operations assessment: identify where time, energy, and money are leaking

  • Workflow optimization: streamline how work moves through the business

  • Process improvement: reduce waste, rework, and inconsistency

  • Systems design: build SOPs and repeatable structures so the business doesn’t depend entirely on you

  • Scaling readiness: design the operational foundation to handle increased demand

  • Owner energy management: reduce the decision load so you can lead instead of firefight

Step 1: Operations Audit (2 sessions, 4 hours each)

I come into your business, physically or virtually, and observe how it actually runs. Not how you think it runs. How it actually runs.

We map workflows, identify friction points, measure where time and materials are lost, and document the current state of your operation.

This is a Gemba Walk, a Lean manufacturing practice where you go to where the work happens and see the system with fresh eyes.

Step 2: Findings and Recommendations

You receive a clear, prioritized report: what’s working, what’s leaking, and what to fix first. No fluff. Specific actionable changes ranked by impact.

Step 3: Implementation Support (optional)

If you want help executing the changes, we work together on a project basis, building the systems, training your team, and measuring the results.

Operational Audit: starting at $500

Includes two 4-hour on site or virtual sessions, workflow mapping, friction analysis, and a prioritized recommendations report.

Implementation support priced by project scope.

For larger operations or multi-location businesses, contact me for a custom scope and proposal.

  • Small business owners who are good at their craft but drowning in operations

  • Local businesses ready to scale but limited by current processes

  • Owners who are tired of being the only person who knows how everything works

  • Businesses of any size, from solo operators to teams of 50+ (scope and investment scale with the complexity of your operation)

You built this business with your hands. Let’s build the system that lets it grow without burning you out.

The Steady State Method is the business operations arm of Intelligent Path Collective, applying the same systems-thinking approach used in our personal coaching programs to small business operations.
